Epic battles with lots of ecchi?! Kill La Kill!!

The first time I heard about Kill La Kill was via Melanie Mac’s YouTube video. She enjoyed it and recommended Kill La Kill. So I decided to watch the first episode.

I was very surprised with how overly sexualised the anime high school female students were. Especially during the transformation of the protagonist and antagonist. It is slightly off putting. Despite how perverse Kill La Kill can be, the most entertaining parts of the show are always the over the top battles. They are amazing! I love how one swing of their weapons can blow away hundreds and thousands of people. It’s just epic.

The humour in Kill La Kill is awesome. The theme is based off clothing giving super powers to people – that itself is funny. But what really triumphs it for me are when going through the important story plots (not that these should be taken seriously in the first place) are accompanied by a distracting scene of a male teacher stripping. It’s so silly.

I was a little surprised with the ending. I expected more of a slug match between the main character Ryuko and the baddie. It was a little disappointing to be honest. I think the whole series peaked for me when Ryuko was finally able to utilise Senketsu 100% and she fought Satsuki. That battle was amazing.
