Konami has released a trailer for another Metal Gear Solid spinoff – Metal Gear Survive. Cool.
Metal Gear Survive described as a zombie survival co-op game which looked Resident Evil 5 to me. I’ve only played two Metal Gear games (and a demo), Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain (and Ground Zeroes) and Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. Out of the two, I prefer Rising just because I’m an action oriented guy and that there aren’t enough Ninja Gaiden games around. So I’m interested in this title but what’s surprising is the backlash from everyone else.
This trailer looks no worse than any other trailers but it’s set “fans” on fire because it’s a Metal Gear game with Kojima. That’s the only reason I can think of why this game is receiving so much negativity. The game’s not given a chance and already fans and critics are shooting it down. Yes, there was a fallout between Kojima and Konami and nearly every source points the finger at Konami for being bad. But are people just shitting on Konami for using the Metal Gear franchise (which they own) because Kojima isn’t heading this project anymore? That’s immature. Dead or Alive is no longer under Tomonobu Itagaki’s creative direction but it’s still a good fighting game which are still receiving balancing updates. The worst thing are the critics jumping onto this to join in with the cool “I hate Konami” crowd. The game looks fine but to say it’s “trash” or crap at this point is too early. For all we know, this could be the next amazing multiplayer game for this generation.
